Welcome to my site!

About yours truly

If you'd like a quick list of bullet points, here it is.
Name: Jon, or Jonathan NĂtere Kyoukan (Name of my avatar, not the real me!)
Year of Birth: 2003
Likes: Videogames, artwork, coding (In theory!), tinkering with games, writing... Creating in general!
Favorite Fruits: Bananas & Watermelon (Not necessarily at the same time!)
Dislikes: ...Hm. I can't think of any. Maybe I'll articulate some next year.

Now if you want my words...
Howdy! Feel free to call me Jon. I was born in 2003, and ever since I was a little fetus in a jar I've been fascinated with many people's creations. Video games mostly.
I was mostly into the experience they offered, but as time passed and I got more opportunities to learn how aspects of them were made, I've been fascinated with the process of creating nearly anything and everything since.

How do I talk to you?

I'm quite flattered you'd want to have a word with me!
Your best bet to contact me is through Discord, for better or for worse. My username there is jonloo1, though I still have my legacy tag.Jonloo1#7228.
I also have an e-mail, bibipoopy@gmail.com (Yes, that's my real e-mail.)

I look forward to chatting with you about... Ah, I guess it doesn't matter. I hope I can give you a fun time regardless!

Who is this handsome creature?

The interesting ringtail-type character you've been seeing everywhere on this page is the face I usually wear online. There's a couple terms for it, but I wanna treat the guy as both a mascot and an avatar.
I'd much rather be presented as this tanuki thing than reveal my face to those I don't know. Nothing personal! It's just part of the charm of putting nothing but my heart out online.

Why make a personal page?

Why not?
I've been mildly upset looking at how limited presentation on social media sites is nowadays. I heard MySpace used to let you play music on your page, I know YouTube used to let you set a background and banner on videos from your channels...
Then there's a couple of old-school sites I've seen in passing as they were shown on documentaries or what have you. All of these showed plenty of personality through the backgrounds and fonts and layouts and yadda yadda. You can tell a person was behind it, unlike the pretty sterile profiles of data points and not much else that exist on the big sites of today. (Or the late 2010s and 2020s if you're reading from the future.)
I remember wanting in and getting really excited about it, though I realized hosting a site would be pretty expensive... but then I came across Neocities which offered a place to host your page and it's got a whole little community of page builders! So I took some time to figure HTML out and built this page bit by bit. Whenever I wanted to see how something was done I'd look at how another page did things and fiddle about with my HTML and my CSS. It's been a very satisfying experience, and I look forward to putting whatever on my site without worrying about limitations beyond my own.
